Gareth Cadwallader

133 Copeland Road, Peckham SE15 3SN

This is the artist's second solo show and marks a radical departure from the small oil paintings he has produced for the last four years. Installed in the gallery are mural-sized photographic billboards - capturing idyllic figurative scenes reminiscent of French Impressionism - and two new abstract paintings. Wedged floor-to-roof is a monolithic canvas seven metres high. Mounted on the mechanism of an orbital sander a second painting vibrates loudly, shattering the leisurely summer atmosphere of the photographs.

The Peckham show will be complemented by a small exhibition of new 'window' paintings at the New Bond Street Gallery January 27 - March 3. The Peckham show also runs through March 3.
